Law Rocks! A charity battle of the bands between global law organisations!
Due to massive interest, Law Rocks! 2010 was held over 2 events, on 29th April 2010, and on 24th June 2010 both at the 100 Club. See the Band pages to see who played and which charities they were supporting.
The inaugural Law Rocks! event took place on Thursday 18th June 2009, at the 100 Club (www.the100club.co.uk). On the back of that first amazing night, demand from the legal world to demonstrate their excellence on the 100 Club stage was such that there were two events in 2010, with 12 bands participating in total. The playlists (a close secret) were amazing and covered many decades and styles of rock, with some rather interesting surprises thrown in. On 29th April order was once more kept by Mr. Justice Coulson, with Damian Hickman of the IDRC running the show on 24th June, and both kept the proceedings truly rocking. The Judging panel of Catrin Griffiths (Editor, The Lawyer), Junes Miles-Kingston (drummer with The Communards, Everything But The Girl, The Modettes), Chris Johnstone (formerly of The Quireboys) and Chris Taylor (head of Busking Cancer) decided that in April Real State from Berwin Leighton Paisner were the cream of the crop on the day, with Bird & Bird's "Birds of Prey" emerging triumphant in June. Courtesy of Fender there was a white Stratocaster raffled at the April event, with another white Fender auctioned on 24th June signed by Roger Taylor of Queen, Kenney Jones of The Faces, and Mike Rutherford of Genesis, the proceeds from both going into the charity prize fund. We hope to achieve similar prizes in the future, which is another good reason to support the event!!
Praise for this event has included "one of the best nights of my life", "bloody brilliant", and "the best legal night out ever", so do keep an eye on the website for future events in 2011!!!
